About Camp Lucy
While addressing the typical barriers to rowing, such as transportation and economics, Camp Lucy uses rowing as a way to empower young women who might not otherwise encounter the sport to see their potential individually and within the community as leaders and trailblazers. Honoring the legacy of Lucy Pocock, an early pioneer of women’s rowing, Camp Lucy participants learn all the ways that they are strong, powerful, supported, and brave and gain an 'I Can Do That!' mentality.
Science of Rowing and Camp Lucy Partnership
Science of Rowing supports opportunities for young women in rowing. Authors Will Ruth, Blake Gourley, and Joe DeLeo are three dual strength-and-rowing coaches who work with male and female rowers of all ages on water and in the gym to improve strength, physical and mental health, and rowing performance. By providing a free program focused on middle school girls, Camp Lucy is an exciting opportunity to get young people excited about rowing, physical fitness, and healthy lifestyles.
Science of Rowing will donate 100% of new monthly membership profits during the month of November 2021 to the Camp Lucy program to fund the next Camp Lucy event in the summer of 2022 and encourage more people to contribute and take action.
Members get access to all previously published issues of Science of Rowing, so if you join in November, you’ll get all 15 issues going back to August 2020 for the price of one while contributing to a great cause.
Let's grow this sport together and improve accessibility for all.
Will you help us transform the lives of more young athletes?
