Meet the Team: Kym Littlefield, Erg Ed and Student Services Coordinator

Kym (left) and Jon are two of our great staff additions to the GPRF Programs Team this year.

Kym joined the George Pocock Rowing Foundation staff just two months ago and is already erging like a pro. While new to rowing, Kym is not new to sports and the impact they can have on young peoples’ lives. Kym is focused on removing barriers to access rowing through our Erg Ed® program, and leading our student services work, ensuring that young people in need of financial support to cover rowing fees or transportation to and from practice are supported by the GPRF.

How long have you been part of the GPRF?

I have been a part of GPRF for almost two months.

How does your position impact the GPRF?

My role reduces and removes barriers to rowing for young people.

Where and when did you start rowing?

I started rowing the moment I had an opportunity (also two months ago).

What is your favorite memory of playing a sport or being on a team?

I liked playing defense against the best players on the team as a freshman in high school and college, and I loved locker room dance parties :)

Who inspires you the most in sports?

Maya Moore, Bruce Lee, Kobe Bean

And in life?

Ed Roberson, Renee Gladman, Alexis Pauline Gumbs, Daniel Dumile

What advice would you give to someone considering rowing for the first time?

If indoor, remember to imagine the water to reap the benefits of full immersion.

Do you have a favorite workout?

My favorite workouts include resistance training and inevitably a dance as a cool down. It might also be partner-based (not the dance). I also just love to hoop.
