The Regional Grants Program empowers those committed to change.
The Regional Grants Program partners with boathouses that are directly serving youth to increase their impact and support the needs of their community.
This program funds projects that both increase access for underserved groups and overall program capacity. In addition to funding, grantees receive training through the Center for Healing and Justice through Sport and A Long Talk.
The goal of this program is to empower boathouses in the PNW region to increase access and improve the rowing experience for those that have been historically excluded from the sport.
Quotes from our regional boathouse grantees
“Most of the kids that have participated wouldn’t have had the opportunity to row without this program.” - Crystal Buxton, Director Child Care at Bitter Lake
“This grant will allow the Renton Rowing Center to exponentially expand our reach to the South Lake Washington community and get more kids on the water every year. With this support from the GPRF, we are also creating new pathways of support to hire and train coaches who care deeply about the impact of rowing on their community. We are grateful for this opportunity to further develop RRC into a boathouse that truly reflects Renton.” - Rachel Wong, Renton Rowing Center Executive Director
“We are grateful to the GPRF for the regional grant award of 10 new indoor rowers! This award will allow us to introduce ERG ED in four Thurston County School Districts and reach youth who may not otherwise have an opportunity to learn about rowing!” - Jim Bertolini, Olympia Area Rowing
“We at GLC STEM to Stern are honored to be highlighted in your monthly newsletter. Our featured Callie can't wait to turn 13 and become a GLC junior. ☺️
All your features reveal such fine, smart, and heartful work! 🙏 Thank you!”
- Anne Martin, Greenlake Crew
Our Regional Grants Program impacts PNW Rowing Programs through:
Funding: Since 2022, over $100k in financial support has funded initiatives to increase accessibility and opportunity and remove barriers to participation for young people.
Training: In partnership with the Center for Healing and Justice through Sport and A Long Talk, we give our grantees the tools they need to create inclusive, impactful, and accessible spaces for young people. This represents the largest cohort of boathouses committed to these trainings in the United States.
Community: Our grantees are part of a community of like-minded organizations that all want to see our sport improve. This network promotes collaboration amongst boathouse leadership, creating an exponential increase in impact.
The next grant award cycle is currently on hold.
