Making Friends and Memories

In June, we hosted our very first full-length Camp Lucy Summer Camp with 10 days of rowing, games, workshops, new friendships, and plenty of fun! Leveraging our partnerships from the pilot sessions, we had campers from the Congolese Integration Network, Seattle Girls School, and young people from the general Seattle community.

Participants completed surveys at the beginning and end of camp, and we measured changes in confidence, emotional awareness, physical activity motivation and enjoyment, and feeling like they have friends who they can count on.

We saw increases in many of these areas, and asked for feedback from the athletes:

What did you enjoy the most about Camp Lucy?

"I enjoyed the environment and positive energy brought in. It made me always look forward to going back each day - I made many friends and memories!"

"Learning how to row and meeting all the other nice and helpful people and instructors also playing all the fun games and having water wars!"

If you could change one thing about Camp Lucy what would it be?

"If I have to change a thing about Camp Lucy it wouldn't be anything really because everything about Camp Lucy is amazing!"

"I wouldn't change anything. The experience made me feel included, even when I felt uncomfortable in an activity, there was always a solution. Coaches were amazing, VERY beginner-friendly!"

We are looking forward to our second Summer session: August 22 - September 2. Register or learn more below!
